CEPITÁ: HEART OF THE CHICAMOCHA CANYON

If you are standing in Cepitá it means that you are in the heart of Santander and, of course, of the Chicamocha Canyon. Perhaps because of this, or because the municipality is on the banks of the river, it has one of the warmest climates in the region with temperatures between 27 and 32 °C.

This makes diving into its refreshing natural pools or enjoying the beaches of the Chicamocha River some of the best things to do in Cepitá. So, if you are a good hiker, you can take the opportunity to visit them and, incidentally, enjoy a tour through a tropical dry forest in the bowels of the majestic canyon.

Cepitá is surrounded by large mountains, as if it were a great fort. Its streets are covered with stones from the river and its houses, all painted white and brown, retain the walls of tapia pisada with which they were built many years ago. In the center of the park you can admire a huge ceiba tree that becomes an oasis of shade and freshness where you can sit and admire this beautiful and quiet little town of Santander.

What to eat in Cepitá?
